The initial challenge was to reimagine a local institution, McCoy’s of Westport, after its abrupt closing. The client wanted to subtly impart some of McCoy’s identity into their new restaurant concept, Mickey’s Hideaway. Over time the look & feel evolved from neighborhood dive-bar to a wayward traveler’s hangout, to 1960s Detroit style-lounge. In the end, the client was able to complete their vision with another designer but the journey produced some really fun and interesting ideas.
